Here we give you the answers to the questions we are asked most often:

The workpieces to be coated need to be coating-compliantly designed and manufactured. Is this true for all workpieces and what should be taken into consideration?

DIN EN 14879-1 gives detailed information about the requirements. However, exceptions do exist. For example some plastics are more tolerant to variations than others. On the other hand, specific uses or coating plastics have additional requirements. For this reason we are happy to investigate these individually for you. (open standard summary)

The chemical resistance of the plastic coating is not contained in the resistance lists. How do you achieve process reliability?

Describe the application precisely. This basic form will help you to ascertain the information.
Working together with the laboratories of various coating material manufacturers, we try to find a solution to your individual project. If no definite acceptance or rejection is possible, we will happily provide you with test samples so you can carry out practical experiments under real-life conditions.

Deposit residues should be avoided. Which coating most closely conforms to our operating conditions?

Document the operating parameters as precisely as possible: contact product, temperatures, chemical stresses and necessary approvals.
HÜNI + CO has experience of suitable coating processes for a wide variety of applications. We will select non-stick coatings from our range, which are appropriate and which you will also be able to test for yourself with the help of coating samples.

Is electrical insulation with a plastic coating suitable for the current project?

Various factors play a part, such as the electrical potential, the substrate, the component geometry or the desired plastic. Describe to us the process as best you can or contact the HÜNI+CO dealer in your region.

The existing plastic coating has worn away. Can it be renewed or does the workpiece have to be replaced?

Whether non-stick or anti-corrosion coating: many workpieces can be decoated and recoated again several times.

An existing anti-corrosion coating was damaged and the chemical caused corrosion damage. Is it necessary to replace the whole workpiece?

No. Depending on the severity and size of the corrosion damage the workpiece can be repaired or recoated.

Does a plastic coating with FDA approval for contact with foodstuffs automatically also have approval in accordance with European standards?

This is often the case. However, there are exceptions, as e.g in Germany the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) lays down other criteria. Subsequently an individual test is recommended.
