He doesn’t really like to be the centre of attention, but today Peter Hüni is celebrating his 75th birthday. Congratulations from all of us here at HÜNI+CO. And we would like to take this opportunity to briefly spotlight his unusual entrepreneurial career.

HÜNI+CO was founded in 1859 as a tannery at its current location. In the mid-1960s, the company virtually reinvented itself. Leather production was discontinued, machines and systems were sold abroad and the employees were gradually retrained for the PROTEC plastic coating division. After the death of his father in 1986, Peter Hüni took over the business and turned the oldest industrial company in Friedrichshafen into one of Europe’s leading companies in the field of functional coatings and surface technology. Today, HÜNI+CO is one of the top specialists for non-stick and anti-friction coatings as well as corrosion protection coatings for almost all industrial sectors. These include machinery and plant engineering, the chemical industry, semiconductor and battery production as well as interior coatings for tank container logistics.

Committed to the regional economy

Peter Hüni has not only looked after his company, but has also rendered outstanding services to the regional economy in numerous honorary positions. For example, he was Vice President of the Lake Constance-Upper Swabia Chamber of Industry and Commerce for many years. He also served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volksbank Friedrichshafen. He is still active on the Supervisory Board of Messe Friedrichshafen.

His daughter Alexa has long since taken over the operational management – now in the sixth generation. But the senior is not yet ready to retire. He continues to support the company and looks after important long-standing customers. We congratulate our senior boss from the bottom of our hearts and wish him many more, above all healthy, years to come!
